Which networks will my eSIM use in Thailand?
Your eSIM connects to AIS and DTAC, two of Thailand's largest networks, on 4G/LTE. Between them you're covered across Bangkok and Chiang Mai and on the islands and beach towns most trips are built around — Phuket, Koh Samui, Krabi. Signal is weaker on the smaller islands and in the northern hills.
How much data do I need for a trip to Thailand?
Our Thailand plans come in 5 GB and 10 GB, both valid for 7 days. For a week of maps, Grab rides, messaging and photos, 5 GB is comfortable. Take 10 GB if you're sharing a hotspot, uploading video, or working while you travel. If you run low, you can top up without buying a new eSIM.
Does the Thailand eSIM work in other countries?
No — it works in Thailand only. Bangkok is a common jumping-off point, so if you're adding Vietnam, Cambodia or Laos, buy the eSIM for each. They can all sit on your phone at once, and you switch between them on arrival.
Can I use my Thailand eSIM as a hotspot?
Yes. Personal Hotspot works normally, so you can share your connection with a laptop or a travel companion. Tethered data comes out of the same allowance and it goes quickly — if you plan to tether daily, start with the 10 GB plan.
Will I keep my own number in Thailand?
Yes. The Thailand eSIM is data-only and installs alongside the SIM you already use, so your usual number stays reachable for WhatsApp, iMessage and SMS. Turn data roaming off on your home SIM and on for the Thailand eSIM (Settings → Mobile Data → Thailand eSIM → Data Roaming) so all your data runs on the local plan. The Thailand eSIM doesn't include a Thai number, calls or texts.
When should I install my eSIM before flying to Thailand?
Install before you leave, while you still have wifi — downloading the profile needs a connection, and the arrivals hall is not where you want to be troubleshooting. Installing early costs you nothing: you have at least a year from purchase to activate, and the 7 days only start counting when the eSIM first connects to a Thai network.
